Applied Islamic Psychology: Introductory Training for Practitioners

This professional development training course, designed for mental health practitioners and professionals in related fields, offers an in-depth introduction to Islamic psychology in practice. Participants will explore the historical and philosophical foundations of an Islamic understanding of human psychology, focusing on spiritual and cultural factors relevant to Muslim clients.

The course promotes a holistic approach, integrating spiritual, psychological, and physical dimensions for a comprehensive view of well-being. Ethical considerations will be addressed, guiding participants on incorporating spiritual beliefs into therapy while maintaining best practices.

Blending Islamic psychological principles with modern evidence-based methods, the training covers the relationship between spirituality, religion, and mental health, with a focus on contemporary research that aligns Islamic perspectives with therapeutic approaches.

By the end of the course, participants will be equipped to differentiate culturally informed mental health practices from Islamically grounded principles and apply these insights to enhance their therapeutic skills. Topics include Islamic psychology frameworks, therapeutic principles, and navigating spirituality in mental health contexts.

This training is open to practitioners across disciplines and advanced graduate students in helping professions and will offer Continuing Education (CE) credits, subject to approval.
