A house of Healing

Dar al-Shifaa, meaning “House of Healing,” is a space rooted in the Islamic tradition and dedicated to a deeper understanding of healing and the human being. We bring together the wisdom of Islamic Psychology and contemporary therapeutic practice, with the healing of the heart at the center of our approach to wellbeing.

Bridging Heart and

Mind

Founded in 2008 by Dr. Abdallah Rothman, Dar al-Shifaa began as a private psychotherapeutic counseling practice in Northern Virginia and Washington DC, USA.

Over years of clinical work and scholarly research into Islamic psychology, a distinctive therapeutic approach that heals the heart, mind, and soul inspired by the Islamic tradition was developed by Dr. Rothman. Although his expertise does not extend to physical medicine, his practice is rooted in traditional wisdom that sees health as a holistic integration of physical, spiritual, and mental well-being. His methods transcend conventional “talk therapy,” incorporating heart-centered somatic healing and wellness coaching.

Founder & Clinical Director

Dr. Abdallah Rothman

Founder of Dar al-Shifaa, Dr. Abdallah Rothman’s work is an exploration of healing through the Islamic understanding of the human being. Drawing on the science of the soul, spiritual practice, and contemporary psychology, he has developed an approach that sees healing not simply as the easing of symptoms, but as a movement toward greater wholeness, balance, and connection.
